BID NO: 153/2019 (RE-ADVERTISEMENT) GENADENDAL: NOMAKANJANI PROJECT: ELECTRICAL INSTALLATION TO THE EXISTING STORE
The works, as described, are part of the Agriculture and Land Reform program programme for the Overberg district and is situated approximately 2km outside Genadendal town. The quoted amount will be a lump sum bid and must include supply and installation of electricity. As the works are urgent, the successful bidder must have the capacity to complete the works within 14 (fourteen) calendar days of appointment.
Conditions that may pose a risk:
The weather always poses a risk to any construction project. Site consists of mostly hard clay earth. The Contractor must put all necessary precautions in place to work under these conditions. The scope of works will include the following:
The purpose for this part of the Bid is for the provision of electricity from the existing Eskom electrical supply and to install a Single phase connection into the existing store.
The contractor must allow for the supply and connection of the electrical cable, to excavate for trenches and to lay the new cable minimum 1000mm deep.
The contractor must allow for the following items to be installed:
Supply and install a surface mounted, 12 way distribution board and associated switch gear as needed for the electrical installations. The DB Board shall be labelled accordingly.
From the distribution board, wiring by means of 1,5mm conductors plus earth wire to a total of 11 x Fluorescent light fittings inside the store.
From the distribution board, wiring by means of 1,5mm conductors plus earth wire to a total of 7 x 200 Watt LED flood lights to the outside of the store. To be controlled by a day-night switch.
The light fittings shall be controlled by means of a 20 amp circuit breaker installed in the distribution board.
From the distribution board, wiring by means of 2,5mm conductors plus green earth wire to a total of 7 x double socket outlets, installed in the positions as indicated on drawing.
The socket outlets in each room shall be individually controlled by means of 20 amp circuit breakers, installed in the distribution board.
The above-mentioned scope of work is a guideline only and must be verified by a qualified electrician. Any changes must be indicated on the attached form “CHANGES MADE BY BIDDER”
Bidders are advised to thoroughly acquaint themselves with the nature and extend of work to be done, with the site conditions and to re-measure cable lengths and thicknesses as to what was provided in the document. The final positions and height of the light fittings and plugs shall be determined on site.
All wiring shall be enclosed in 20mm diameter PVC conduit and shall be laid alongside the cladding and over the internal room roof areas and fixed with holder bats every 500mm centres.
All work shall be carried out according to SANS 0142 and certificate of compliance shall be submitted on completion of service.

This bid include goods from a designated sector “Electrical & Telecom cables” and only locally produced goods, or locally manufactured goods with a stipulated minimum threshold for local production and content will be considered. SBD 6.2 and Annex C, D and E documentation apply and must be completed and handed in with this bid.
