MANDELA DAY 2021
Casidra identified a non-profitable organisation, the Pebbles Project, as part of its social responsibility initiative for Mandela Day. Celebrations were concluded by handing over school stationery and rainwater tanks to the Pebbles Project on Monday, 19 July 2021, at Casidra Head Office.
We extended a request to our Staff and Service Providers for either school stationery or a financial donation towards the Pebbles Project’s Back-to-School Stationery campaign. Casidrans managed to raise money for two rainwater tanks and stationery packs to assist approximately 100 learners, which was clearly greatly appreciated.
Casidrans packed stationery in containers for the learners and our CEO, Stuart Symington, conducted an official handover to the Pebbles Project Team.
The Pebbles Project focuses on five areas: Education, Health, Nutrition, Community and Protection. Within each of these categories they provide support for disadvantaged children and their families from agricultural communities in the Western Cape.
Mr Symington thanked all Casidrans and donors/sponsors for their valuable contributions. In his address, the CEO quoted one of his favourite quotes by the legend himself, Nelson Mandela, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world”.
“We stood together and gave our support to those in need. Let’s continue to do our bit to change the lives of others. We must try and make everyday a Mandela Day”, said Mr Symington.
Casidra SOC Ltd is a rural development company based in Paarl that works mainly in the rural communities within the Western Cape Province where poverty is rife.
The Company seeks to build partnerships that facilitate local resource mobilisation and action; to encourage local participation and advocacy for development efforts; and to foster co-operation among local role-players. Due to a lack of resources experienced by many communities, we always look for various donations and sponsorships in order to assist wherever possible.
A big thank you to our following donors: Dynotech and PR, Mariano Agri Maintenance and Services, Kings Catering, Ukuyila, Verliam Trading Projects, Garden and Organics, Nel Tanks and Ribbens Office National.
