INVASIVE PLANT CLEARING PROGRAMME IMPLEMENTER: (EVALUATE 8 / 10 MONTH CONTRACT)

Casidra SOC Ltd is a project implementing entity for the Department of Agriculture in the Western Cape. We make a difference in the lives of people we serve, through effective project management. Casidra currently seeks to recruit an Invasive Plant Clearing Programme Implementer to assist the existing team to implement the contracted programmes for Alien Biomass clearing. The successful candidate will be a proactive, selfmotivated, performancedriven, clientorientated team player, who will deliver an effective, efficient and valueadded service to the organization at large.

The successful candidate will report to the Programme Manager: Environment Sustainability.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS INCLUDE, BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO:

  • PClearing of Alien Biomass from riparian zones and water catchment areas as required in the Working for Water programme works funded by DFFE

  • Assisting with project planning and compilation of tender documents

  • Liaising with landowners on project feasibility and contractual agreements

  • Monitoring of quality and work on-site

  • Site inspection and issuing payment certificates

  • Monitoring health & safety of teams regarding on-site claims and compliance

  • Ensuring and installing procedures, collecting and verification of compliance documentation

  • Compiling reports and mapping documentation as required for the programme

  • Additional implementer functions for other projects of Casidra in other programmes as capacity allows

TO BE CONSIDERED YOU WILL HAVE:

  • Relevant tertiary education in Conservation

  • Minimum of 5 – 7 years’ experience in alien clearing projects

  • Previous experience in Working for Water programs

  • Previous experience in field GPS mapping

  • Previous experience in field verification and density analysis

  • Must have knowledge of CARA & NEMA regulations

  • Must have working knowledge of the OHS Act

  • Previous working knowledge of the reporting systems of the DFFE would be advantageous

  • Must be computer literate and proficient in MS Word & Excel

  • A valid B driver’s license; Must be prepared to travel

  • Must have own vehicle (Preferably off-road vehicle) and office facilities to work from home

  • Must be fluent in both English and Afrikaans conversationally and professionally due to project stakeholder demographics

  • Preference will be given to candidates who can start immediately

  • Hands-on approach

Skills: Problemsolving, good communication, attention to detail and effective and quick implementation skills and key stakeholder engagement.

Attitude: Honest and trustworthy, discreet, meeting deadlines, good team player, handling pressure, must be able to work without direct supervision.

Remuneration: The total cost of the remuneration package will be determined by the qualifications and experience of the candidate.
