FIRST INTAKE OF WESTERN CAPE SCHOOL SUPPORT PROGRAMME READY FOR JOB MARKET
Casidra has reached the final stage of equipping 1300 beneficiaries with on-the-job-experience/training after placing them in provincial schools on behalf of the Western Cape Department of Education and the Jobs Fund during the past year.
The full job assessment training was conducted for a number of days for the beneficiaries from Mitchell’s Plain, Khayelitsha, Atlantis, Worcester, etc. The assessments covered basic training, which includes introduction to the programme, life skills and job readiness. The purpose of this exercise was to prepare the beneficiaries for permanent placements when they exit the programme.
Once the beneficiaries have completed their training, they are ready to seek employment independently. This is according to the Senior Project Manager of Casidra, Leon Faro, who said “Our main objective was to ensure that the beneficiaries are all skilled and prepared for the job market in their individual space. It is time for them to apply their skills”
The new intake of beneficiaries in schools for 2017 took place at the beginning of the year. Approximately 4000 beneficiaries are expected to be placed in schools throughout the year.
